Obituary

Linda Marie Youngs, 74, of Hales Corners, WI passed away peacefully on May 27, 2023.

Linda was born on August 11, 1948, to Lloyd and Marcella Jensen in Renwick, Iowa. She lived in town but spent much of her time riding horses with her close childhood friends. Linda loved the warmth of the sun and spending her summers waterskiing on Roy Lake. Linda graduated from Boone Valley High School and went on to complete her Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Luther College. Later in life, she completed her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee.

After college graduation, Linda moved to Milwaukee and began her 34-year-long teaching career with Waukesha Public Schools. Linda loved being a teacher and found herself fortunate to spend most of this time working side by side with her two closest friends.

In 1971, Linda met her husband, Greg. They married in 1977 and had two children, Jennifer and Randy. Linda loved being a wife and mother. When not teaching, she spent her time reading to her kids, managing 4-H plays, helping with the marching band, and teaching her children to love the lake as much as she did.

In 2004, Linda retired from teaching, allowing for her and Greg to spend their time traveling both with family and friends. She also spent time in the garden, reading her beloved books (with a good glass of wine) and enjoying her three grandchildren. Throughout her life, Linda had a deep love for animals and in retirement she was afforded additional time with her pets.

Linda was a devoted servant of God and found comfort and connection through Atonement Lutheran Church. Linda served the church through a variety of roles including participation in Leah Circle, teaching Sunday School, and various Bible studies. Linda had a deep faith, one that brings her family comfort at this time. She was open and willing to share her faith with any and all.

Anyone who knew Linda knew she was reliable and they could count on her for help and support for any project. When we think of Linda, we think of someone who always showed up with a smile on her face and hands ready to work. Although, we miss her greatly, we know she is in heaven looking down on us.

Linda is survived by her husband Greg Youngs, her brother, Gordon (Patti) Jensen. Her children Jennifer Metzger (Jason Wainwright), Randall Youngs (Nicolle Chernik), her three grandchildren Nathan (14), Elise (14), and Madelyn (8), her brother-in-law Dennis (Karen) Youngs and other beloved nieces and cousins.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Marcella Jensen, and her sister Adelle (John) Wills.

Friends of Linda and the Youngs’ family are invited to attend the funeral services for Linda at Atonement Lutheran Church S70 W16244 Martin Drive Muskego, Wisconsin 53150. Saturday June 10, 2023, Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, with a Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 pm.

The family will hold a luncheon following the service at Clifford’s Supper Club in Hales Corners, Wisconsin.

The family also wants to thank Dr. William Bradley and the staff at the Courage Clinic and the Cancer Center at the Moorland Reserve in New Berlin for the care they provided Linda through out her battle with cancer.
