Week of January 25th
FORT!
Find out how Fort went.
We will have a debrief on
January 25th at all services!
As has almost become a tradition, our youth will be sponsoring and serving a Fat Tuesday dinner at Atonement on February 17th. The Fat Tuesday donations go to help pay for things like the Fort Wilderness and summer service trips.
We will be making pancakes, sausage, etc, and serving applesauce and other sides. We will also need folks to bring baked goods to serve as desserts.
The details: we would like to have our folks there for as little or long a period of time as they can give, and we recognize it's a school night. We are typically done around 6:30pm or so, so the evening goes by quickly. We'd like to have folks show up around 4pm to decorate and begin cooking, and will need people to help serve, bus tables, and generally greet people with a smile and great attitude.
Again, we will take as much help and time as we can get from everyone; many hands make light work for all!
Please bring a sweet treat to sell at the dessert table!
Happy New Year to all of the ACTS families and families of current 8th graders.
We need your input on this year’s service trip.
Dates are July 12th - 18th.
We are going to try something a little different this year- something to get us a bit out of our comfort zones, but something geared for people like us at our (okay, in Mike’s case, HIS) lack of skill level. A few years ago, the group did a trip to Harlan, Kentucky, to work on homes in Appalachia. They loved the experience, and talked about the relationships made not only with the folks being served, but also with each other. Under the tutelage of knowledgeable, experienced staff who will guide us through our tasks, we could be doing any number of different things- most of which we probably have never done before: things like building ramps, roofing, plumbing, etc.
We need your vote as to which trip we should book, and would appreciate your indication of interest, which we’ll refine later to a "yes" or "no" commitment so we can plan accordingly.
Details of each trip are in the body of the survey.
If you have any questions, please contact Mike Gandrud mlgandrud@aol.com
Students can sell between services. They can also take some home to sell to family and friends.
Do NOT need to be present to win!
Youth Chimes Choir
New for this year is a Chimes choir for 6th grade through high school.
Rehearsals will be Sunday mornings 10:30 — 11:00
This group will be structured a little differently as this age group is very busy. We want to be flexible and do short term commitments to a specific date. We are currently rehearsing for performances on December 14 and 22.
Please join us. If you have any questions, please feel free to text, call or email me.
