NOTES from the Youth Leaders
Knoxville Service Trip Updates:
On July 13, eleven members of ACTS and two chaperones will head out to Knoxville, Tennessee for this year's service project through Next Step Ministries. Thanks to everyone who has been praying for the participants and generously supporting our fundraisers (see below). We'll be back on the 19th, and will update the congregation on our time away when we return. Members of ACTS going on the trip are Greta Geiger, Luca Lemus, Emma Merschdorf, Zach Felts, Sophie Rich, Lilly Luttman, Alex Noah, Carolyn Gorzek, Lacey Beer, Natalie Storm and Eli Lewandowski; chaperones will be Carrie Storm and Mike Gandrud.
Thanks to all who, under the tutelage of Madame (aka Sharon Holden), worked to bake the Apple Crisp, Lemon Chess and Kentucky Derby Pies for our fundraiser in support of the Knoxville trip, and special thanks to Madame for making the delicious confectionary treats. We had 14 people (including two from Cross Training!) assemble to do all the baking and packaging; thanks as well to all from the congregation who so generously supported our Mother's Day sale of the treats- hope you enjoyed them as much as we enjoyed making them!
You might have noticed an 'envelope wall' in the narthex; if you are so inclined, we'd appreciate you taking a moment to read a bit about some of the people going on the trip, and consider making a financial contribution to support not only the Knoxville trip but other youth trips as well. The idea is to take an envelope and return it to the church office (or place it in the offering), enclosing the amount listed on the outside of the envelope. Please be sure to also include your personal church envelope number so our counters can accurately update your giving statements. Again, we appreciate your support- financially, prayerfully, or otherwise!
A very generous member of the congregation offered a fundraising opportunity to the youth in support of the youth trip budget- touching up the outdoor pavers, some of which have had the paint on the engraving fade away. Over a few sessions, members of ACTS and Cross Training worked together on the project- we hope you like the results, and thanks again to the very generous member who offered up the challenge.
